Whitney King, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the CEO and lead Behavior Specialist of Destination Family, an organization based in Virginia Beach dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities. Whitney holds a BA in Sociology from South Carolina State University, a Master’s in Arts & Teaching from Liberty University, and has completed Applied Behavior Analysis coursework at Saint Joseph’s University and Capella University. Since 2017, she has been endorsed as a Positive Behavior Support Facilitator (PBS-F) in Virginia and serves on the endorsement board for PBS-F facilitators with the Public Partnership at Virginia Commonwealth University. Whitney is also a certified Family Coach for the Strengthening Families Program (SFP), an internationally recognized, evidence-based family skills training program. As a passionate advocate, Whitney has transformed her deep-rooted love for helping others into a thriving business that makes a meaningful impact on countless lives.
With over three decades of growing awareness and need for services for people with disabilities, the U.S. now has approximately 61 million individuals over the age of 16 identifying as disabled, according to AAAtraq. This surge in numbers has fueled Whitney’s commitment to providing essential support and services to this expanding population. She understands the urgent need for resources and strives to meet it head-on through Destination Family.
At the core of Whitney’s philosophy is her belief that having a disability does not equate to being disabled. She views disability not as a limitation but as part of the human experience, and she has dedicated her life to ensuring others see it the same way. Her work reflects this ethos, whether in her role as a Behavior Specialist or in her capacity as a public speaker and writer. She understands that it's much more than just business; it’s about making a difference in people’s lives and creating lasting change in the community.
Whitney is the author of five books, which she uses as tools to build understanding, foster connections, and advocate for the disabled community. Through her written works and public speaking engagements, Whitney shares her story and helps others see the potential within themselves, regardless of their challenges.
